SFGATE – Designer Trish Lee Pairs Wedding Dresses To Bay Area Wedding Venues

10 Dream San Francisco Weddings

San Francisco wedding dress designer Trish Lee created her inaugural collection of wedding gowns with a modern local leading lady in mind. With a focus on the fit and the fabric, each gown is named after an Audrey Hepburn character and made in San Francisco. (Read more about Lee in this recent San Francisco Chronicle profile.) Each of the dresses is also created with an iconic Bay Area venue in mind. On a visit to her Mint Plaza studio, Lee, who is not married, shared her unique vision for where and how a bride would wear each of her dresses.

1. Charlotte + de Young Museum. This indie bride would marry at this architectural fine arts museum Lee says, combining elements of nature with the man-made. Lee likens the Charlotte’s “architectural” cowl-draped neckline and simplicity with the bones of the statement-making building.

SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE – Trish Lee Wedding Dresses A Classic Fit

Trish Lee is the San Francisco wedding dress designer behind an eponymous line of wedding dresses – her inaugural collection launched in January. Named after Audrey Hepburn characters, the gowns defy many modern inclinations – they are elegant and glamorous without being flashy. "Trendy’ isn’t in her vocabulary, unless you consider the subtle ‘Gatsby’ and ‘Downton Abbey’-era silhouettes a trend." Lee, 33, focuses on the fit and fabric rather than "the bling of the dress’"– a classic idea, really, but something that in recent times seems to have given way to rushed construction and cookie-cutter styles.
