Mid-Century Modern Wedding

With a minimalist vision and a sophisticated eye, Scott and Kiyoka created an intimate wedding putting their friends and family to work. Mother-of-the-bride and friend were in charge of the flowers and cake, while-father-of-the-bride hand selected five wines and a bubbly from his wine shop. The bridesmaids crafted two signature cocktails in honor of the bride and groom – the Pink Salty Dog: vodka, pink grapefruit juice, Campari with a salt rimmed glass and the Derby Day Punch: bourbon, elderflower, mint leaves, and chamomile. Kiyoka chose the Charlotte wedding dress for its soft architectural lines. Crafted of four-ply silk crepe, the gown complemented the home’s stark modern lines seamlessly. The reception featured amazing eats from a local caterer, simple lawn games – corn hole, bocce ball, and croquet, and live music performed by a friend and guest, Alex Cornell. With a little ingenuity, creative friends and family, their dream wedding came to life.

Where Japan And China Meet

Stefanie is wearing the Rima gown. Crafted of fine silk mikado and re-embroidered American lace, Rima features a fit-and-flare trumpet silhouette, hand-cut lace, and an asymmetrical flounce. The sweetheart neckline is embellished with scallop lace.

Stefanie, a native San Franciscan and second generation Chinese American did not expect to find her soulmate in Koji, a native Southern Californian and second generation Japanese American, but they both took a leap of faith. Here they are today - married. Their lovely August wedding at the Hakone Gardens combined elements of both their heritage.
